❓ Issue/Question

  • What is the User Policies feature?
  • What is the Policies tab in my External group settings for?
  • What is the Policies tab in my Account type settings for?

👌 Resolution/Answer

  • User policies let admins set download and clip rules at two levels:
    • Account type (via Configure > Users > Select the Account type > Policies tab)
    • External group (via Distribution > External Groups > Select the External Group > Policies tab)
  • Using policies, platform admins can restrict what's downloadable (by tag, by player, by external group) and control clip behavior (max duration, reframing to 9:16).

🔖 Notes

  • Available controls are: excluded tag options, excluded players, excluded external groups, available download pipelines (S3, MASV, SMB), video quality (Original / Edit proxy / Web proxy), auto-download, clip max duration, and reframing to 9:16.
  • There are no limits on how many tags, players, or external groups can be excluded.
