Can I add comments to a log?

In order for you to add comments to already created logs, the Video Logs > Can view page and Video Logs > Can edit logs permissions should be enabled on your account.

In order for you to add comments while creating logs, the Video Logs > Can view page and Video Logs > Can create permissions should be enabled on your account.

In order for you to edit logs from a live video ingest, the Video Logs > Can edit livestream logs permission should be enabled on your account.

In order for you to add comments while creating logs from a live stream, the Video Logs > Can create livestream logs permission should be enabled on your account.

👌 Resolution/Answer

  • Option A: Add comments to an existing log
    • Select the media asset and open the Logs section in the media Information panel.
    • Open the … (Edit) menu.
    • In the Logs section, scroll to the bottom to find the Comment box.
    • Add your comment and select Update.
    • Your comment will now be available to anyone who opens this log.

 

  • Option B: Add comments while creating a log
    • Select the media asset and open the Logs section in the media Information panel.
    • Select Add New Log
    • Complete the desired log information.
    • Scroll to the bottom to find the Comment box.
    • Add your comment and select Save Log.
    • Your comment will now be available to anyone who opens this log.

 

  • Option C: Add comments to a log in a live stream
    • Follow the same steps described in Option A, but complete the steps within the Live Ingest section.

 

  • Option D: Add comments while creating a log in a live stream
    • Follow the same steps described in Option B, but complete the steps within the Live Ingest section.

 

🔖 Notes 

  • Comments support plain text only and do not include formatting options.
  • Comments can contain up to 500 characters, and a character counter is displayed while editing.
  • Comments are saved with the log and can be retrieved through the API.
