In order for you to edit descriptions on your media, the Media library > Can edit tags (add to/remove from media) permission should be enabled on your account.
If you don't see it, reach out to your admin or refer to the Account Type Permissions Overview article for more information.

- Is there a way to delete descriptions in bulk?

- Not at the moment — Bulk deletion of descriptions isn't supported at this time. Descriptions will need to be removed manually, one media at a time.
