❓ Issue/Question
- The AI is not tagging a player in my recent uploads
👌 Resolution/Answer
When AI isn't tagging a specific player, the cause is almost always one of: a poor-quality headshot, AI recognition settings being off for that player, low-quality media, timing (the player was created after the upload), or a player profile that needs to be recreated. Walk through the checks below in order — each one targets a specific cause.
-
Check the player's headshot
- Go to
Configure>Team & Players>Playersand search for the player. - Open the player profile and review the headshot.
- The headshot must be clear, well-lit, and show only the player's face and shoulders
- For all the criteria of the player headshot, check:
- If the headshot doesn't meet the criteria: upload a new headshot that does. This is the most common cause.
- Go to
-
Review the player's AI recognition settings
- Go to
Configure>Team & Players>Playersand open the player's profile. - Confirm
Run facial recognition AI on uploadis enabled - Confirm
Run text recognition AI on uploadis enabled - Check that the player's recognition name matches exactly what appears on their jersey — edit the recognition name if it doesn't match.
- If any of the above is wrong: enable the missing toggle, or update the recognition name, and save your changes.
- Go to
-
Check the quality of the untagged media
- Open the media that should have been tagged.
- The player's face or jersey name must be clearly visible and legible.
- If the media is too blurry, low-resolution, or the player is too small / obscured in the frame: the AI cannot recognize them. There's no platform-side fix if content quality is the limiting factor.
-
Check when the player was created
- The AI only recognizes players in media that was uploaded after their profile was created — it does not apply tags retroactively.
- For more context, see Can AI tag a newly created player in the existing collections?
- If the player was added after the affected media was uploaded: re-upload the affected media so the AI can process it against the new player profile.
-
Recreate the player profile
- If none of the above resolved the issue, the player profile may be in a bad state.
- Delete the player profile and create a new one — see How to add a new player.
- Re-upload affected media after the new profile is created.
If you've worked through all points above and the AI still isn't tagging the player, reach out to ScorePlay Support via Live Chat. This also applies if you need the player tagged in content from collections that existed before the player profile was created.
