- Shareable links
In order for you to create shareable links for media, the Media library > Can share permission must be enabled on your account.
If you're unable to follow any of the steps below, kindly reach out to your admin or refer to the Account Type Permissions Overview article for more information.
❓ Issue/Question
- If we share a link to media by clicking the “link” button, how long is that link active?
- You want to know when a shareable link created from selected media stops working
👌 Resolution/Answer
- A shareable link stays active indefinitely, unless you set an end date in its advanced settings

Set an end date on the link
- Select the media in the Media Library or in a collection
- Click the
Linkicon in the menu on the right - Open the advanced settings
- Set the
Available untildate - Optionally, set the
Available fromdate to choose when the link starts working - Click
Submit
- The link works until the
Available untildate, then it expires -
Change the dates on an existing link
- Go to
Distribution>External distribution>Shareable links - Search for the link name
- Click
Edit - Open the advanced settings
- Change the
Available fromorAvailable untildate - Save your changes
- Go to

Deactivate a link that has no end date
- Go to
Distribution>External distribution>Shareable links - Search for the link name
- Click the
…(3 dots) - Select
Deactivate
- Go to

- These dates apply to the link only. To control when the media itself is visible on the platform, use embargo and expiration
